Custom T-Shirt Printing in Sydney: How to Choose the Garment and Prepare Your Artwork

A successful printed T-shirt starts with the job it needs to do—not simply the first blank that looks acceptable on screen.

Begin with use, fit and fabric

Decide who will wear the garment, how often it will be used and the impression it needs to create. An event giveaway, daily staff uniform and premium branded retail piece can all require different fabric weights, fits and finishes.

Compare unisex, women’s and youth options where the team needs a broader size range. Check colour availability across every required size before locking in the design, and think about the contrast between the garment colour and the artwork.

Prepare artwork at the intended print size

Vector files such as AI, EPS, PDF or SVG are usually the most flexible for logos. A transparent PNG can also work when it is supplied at high resolution and close to the final print size. Avoid screenshots, compressed messaging-app images and artwork copied from a website.

Include the preferred print position, approximate finished width, garment colour and quantity. If exact placement is important, say so in the brief. Artwork should be reviewed against the chosen garment before production.

DTF vs Embroidery vs Screen Printing: Which Is Right for Your Logo?

The right method depends on the artwork, garment, quantity, placement and the finish you want customers or staff to see.

01

DTF printing

Useful for detailed, multi-colour artwork and shorter mixed runs. The design is printed to film and heat applied. Garment composition and finish still need to be checked for suitability.

Consider for:

Detailed logos, gradients, full-colour artwork and orders with several garment sizes or colours.

02

Embroidery

Creates a dimensional, stitched finish that suits many polos, caps, jackets and corporate garments. Very fine details, small text and colour gradients may need simplification.

Consider for:

Professional uniforms, outerwear, headwear and logos designed to translate cleanly into stitch.

03

Screen printing

Applies ink through prepared screens and can be efficient for larger repeat runs. Artwork colour count, setup and garment type influence suitability and pricing.

Consider for:

Consistent artwork across a larger quantity, bold spot-colour designs and campaign or event apparel.

How to Choose Branded Workwear and Staff Uniforms for Your Business

A useful uniform range balances presentation, comfort, practical requirements and the ability to reorder later.

01

Map the roles

List who needs apparel and where they work. Front-of-house, office, trade, warehouse and event roles may need different garments while still sharing a consistent brand palette.

02

Choose a coordinated core

Start with a small number of dependable styles—often a polo or tee, a mid-layer and an outer layer. Check companion fits, the full size range and colour continuity.

03

Match branding to the garment

Consider fabric texture, weight, stretch and the logo’s level of detail before choosing print or embroidery. Placement should work with seams, pockets, zips and safety requirements.

04

Plan the reorder

Record approved styles, colour names, logo files, decoration details and size allocations. A clear specification makes onboarding and repeat orders easier to manage.
